Happy Summer Solstice! Today’s solstice heralds the first day of summer and it also happens to be International Yoga Day, and National Smoothie Day; three of my favorite things! I am excited to share summer tips for the whole family, a quick video for a kid friendly smoothie recipe, and a very special Yoga retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii.


With kids at home over the summer, it’s always a good idea to have some options for indoor activities on hot days when they need a break from the sun. Healthy cooking can teach kids of all ages about measuring, nutrition, and cooperation. Gluten free baking and fresh fruit smoothies are some of my favorite ways to share healthy living with my sons. Yoga has been part of my path throughout my life, and sharing my passion for yoga is one of my greatest joys. I am incredibly excited to share that I will be leading a yoga retreat this September. Wanted to share my favorite tips for summertime:

  • Take your workouts outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and warm breezes, your local park is a great place to start practicing pull ups and push-ups
  • Take stock of your protein intake, generally speaking it should be about 1 gram per pound of your body weight, learn the differences between whey and plant-based protein in my smoothie video at the top of this newsletter
  • Enjoy self-care in the form of self-myofascial release (SMFR). Whether it is with a tennis ball, a foam roller or a percussive device like a Theragun
